One of the most common DM’s I get is about moisturisers so I hope this post helps you if you’re wondering which one to choose!
Moisturisers role is to create a barrier on your skin to keep moisture from escaping to prevent harmful external stressors from causing dryness or irritation. They also seal all the previously applied skincare like toners and serums. They are the last step in your skincare routine, before your spf.
ACNE PRONE SKIN
Avoid oils & fatty acids, look for ingredients with anti fungal properties such as honey, green tea extract and spot busting salicylic acid.
SENSITIVE
Avoid products with added fragrance, chose a super basic moisturiser with calming ingredients like oat extract, cica or honey, the baby aisle is ideal for these types of moisturisers!
DRY
Add a heavier oil based moisturiser or oil into your routine to help balance your skin such as rosehip, argan or chia.
DEHYDRATED
Look for humectant rich & skin barrier barrier repairing ingredients like glycerin and ceramides. Don’t over cleanse or over exfoliate.
OILY
Use a lightweight gel moisturiser that contains sebum regulating ingredients or add an oil to your regime with a higher linoleic acid content such as jojoba, grape seed or almond oil.
REDNESS
As per the sensitive moisturiser recommendations plus certain brands have entire ranges especially for redness like @avene_uki & @uriageireland @larocheposay or @biodermaie
