How to keep your lips looking as young as your face!

When it comes anti ageing we’re all pretty good at taking care of our faces but what about our lips? Just like our necks, eyes & hands, lips are one of the first places to show the signs of ageing as they’re commonly neglected.

Our lips naturally thin, shrink & lose their plumpness as we age, plus smoking, the sun & drinking through a straw also speeds up their ageing!

We’ve all got the memo about using an spf on our faces, but to protect against both ageing & more importantly skin cancer, its vital to wear one on our lips when outside too!

Like eye creams, lip products with spf are pretty hard to find but swipe across to see 2 I have managed to find @moogooireland for €7 & @image for €20.

Regular exfoliation also helps slow down the ageing process. It’s just as important to exfoliate the lips as it is to exfoliate the skin. A lip exfoliator that I’ve been using and loving is this one from @e.l.f.cosmeticsireland. It’s less than €5 too so winning!

Hydrated lips will always look plumper, fuller & therefore younger too so using an overnight lip mask will ensure maximum hydration as skin regenerates at night. Swipe across to see my favourites from @alexsteinherr & @cyocosmetics both of which are just €5! Irish brand @alisobeauty is a great option for indoor use & it contains propolis to speed up infections such as cold sores and @kerry.hanaphy lip hydrating complex is like a drink of water for the lips! Other favourites that I alternate between include @biodermaie & @drlipp.

You can also make lips look fuller by using pink & neutral shades of lipsticks as they give the illusion of plumper looking lips.

Applying highlighter above the Cupid’s bow also helps create the illusion of fuller lips as does applying a clear lip gloss on the centre of the lips only.

To erase existing lines on the lips use a retinol eye cream such as @theinkeylist as this is especially formulated for sensitive areas.

Finally, avoid petroleum & wax based lip products as these actually dry your lips out!

Do you use an spf on your lips?
