How to maximise the benefits of hyaluronic acid for your skin.

Hyaluronic Acid needs no introduction, it’s a magnet for moisture, holding 1,000 times its own weight in water, helping to plump up lines and wrinkles, but levels start to decline after the age of 25.

One of the biggest causes of ageing is actually lack of moisture, so sometimes your skin is not old it’s just dehydrated as it’s losing hyaluronic acid.

Hyaluronic acid should be a staple in everyone’s skincare regime, and any age, sex, or skin type can use it.

There’s 3 ways of using HA topically to ensure you get maximum benefit from it.

1) You should always apply HA to damp skin, especially if you’ve dry skin, or else it will draw moisture out of the face, making it dehydrated which is the opposite of what you want! It contains no water itself so the more water you combine it with, the better it works!

2) It should always be the first serum you apply before all your subsequent serums, as it acts as a transport system for them, carrying them deeper into the skin to help them work more efficiently.

3) You should always apply a moisturiser after HA, as it helps seal it into your skin and provides a barrier against moisture loss. It also provides moisture for the HA to absorb, should the air around you be dry.

My favourite Hyaluronic acid is @holosskincarefromnature as it contains both high and low weight HA to work on both surface fine lines and deeper wrinkles.

What’s your favourite Hyaluronic Acid?
