Skincare in the air!

✈️ SKINCARE IN THE AIR ✈️

HAVE YOU ANY TRIPS BOOKED?

So many of us are travelling again & the following tips will help you arrive with glowing, hydrated skin as flying is notoriously dehydrating.

These are the steps I take to stop my face ending up like a withered prune on flights & also to help avoid that dreaded post flight bloat!

✈️The air on any plane has only 20% humidity which is almost half of what we’re used to, so to counteract this, pick up an orange juice, coconut water or a ripe banana as they’re packed full of potassium to restore your fluid balance.

✈️ Drink lots of super hydrators like mineral water & coconut water.

✈️ Plane cabin air pressure can also expand intestinal gas by up to 30% so choose lean protein foods in departures & avoid anything salty as extra sodium will only exacerbate water retention even more!

✈️ Immediately after take off, turn off the air vent as it makes dry conditions even drier.

✈️ Remove your make up & multi layer & soothing mists, plumping serums & hydrating moisturisers. ( or arrive make up free at the airport & slather on skincare products in duty free )

✈️ Unless your skin is quite oily, don’t rely on just serums as these humectant based hydrators actually attract moisture from the air, which there’s none of on a plane, dehydrating your skin even more, so always lock in your serums with a moisturiser.

✈️ Apply a face oil & massage in to avoid puffy plane face when you land & apply eye gels to counteract puffy eyes.

✈️ You still need your SPF as UVA radiation is even higher at altitude. Layer an antioxidant serum such as vitamin c underneath for extra protection against UV rays. Apply SPF every 2 hours, especially if you’re in a window seat as light reflects off clouds & snow fields. 1 hour in the air is the equivalent of 20 minutes on a Tanning bed!

✈️ Apply some Vaseline or handcream inside your nose as it’s stops airborne germs from getting into your system.
