The benefits of magnesium.

Around 50-70% of people are actually deficient in magnesium which helps support the adrenal system, decreases the release of cortisol ( the stress hormone) and has been dubbed “natures tranquilliser” making it helpful for anxiety, which a lot of us are suffering from right now.

When we’re stressed the body requires even more magnesium, making it even more important to ensure you’ve an adequate intake as very few of us are exempt from stress, especially right now.

Magnesium also controls more than 300 enzyme processes in the body including muscle relaxing, normal functioning of the nervous system, reduction of tiredness, healthy bones and teeth and concentration and memory.

As it’s a muscle relaxant, I find it helps relax my overactive mind at night, aiding a peaceful nights sleep.

For this reason it’s also helpful for preventing headaches, especially migraines and also muscle cramps.

It’s found in dark leafy greens, oily fish, nuts and seeds, legumes and dark chocolate.

The RDA is between 310 and 320mg but as always consult with your GP before taking any supplements.

My preferred supplement is this one from @pharmanord_ireland as it uses 3 types of magnesium, which ensures good bioavailability and they can also be dissolved in water if you find tablets hard to swallow.

Not only are @pharmanord_ireland supplements highly effective they’re extremely affordable and a 2 month supply of these is just €10.95!
