Where NOT to spend on beauty purchases!

As I get so many messages saying I’m costing you a fortune with my recommendations, tonight’s post is about where it’s NOT essential to spend a lot of money!

CLEANSERS

Seeing as most of your cleanser goes down the plug hole, unless you’ve sensitive or problem skin, there’s no need to splurge on an expensive cleanser, budget ones will do the job just as efficiently & have come a long way.

FOUNDATION

High street bases have come on in leaps & bounds with the use of more yellow based tones rather than pink & there are some excellent, award winning ones on the market now & your foundation will only look as good as the skin beneath it!

NAILS

Expensive doesn’t always mean longer lasting in terms of colour choice & durability so in this case you can choose the cheap brand too!

EYESHADOWS

Again, these have come on in leaps and bounds. The most important thing is to use a good eyeshadow primer to really increase the intensity no matter what brand you use.

LIPS

In terms of colour range, payoff, texture & a variety of finishes, the high street punches well above its weight in this category. @carterbeautycosmetics

BODYCARE

The skin on the body can tolerate a coarser texture of product than the face, so there’s no need spend a fortune on a luxury brand in this category either @thesolutionireland @sanctuaryspairl & @ceraveuki are prime examples.

SPF

Sunscreens all work in the same way, whether cheap or expensive, but It’s worth paying a bit more for ones with extra ingredients such as blue light & pollution protection though.

TONERS

Most toners are just drying concoctions of alcohol apart from @holosskincarefromnature floral toner which does the opposite! Exfoliating toners are good but your skin doesn’t care if your exfoliating acids come in toner or serum form so if you find the same active in a serum, skip it!

MASKS

They’re not essential, most are just nice for some pampering or extra oomph before a special occasion as they don’t stay on long enough to have long term benefits but are an instant quick fix!

Sometimes the only difference between luxury & pharmacy brands is smell, packaging & a more luxurious experience. Save your money for serums & supplements!
